Uppsala through the eyes of others

Uppsala is a student town and young people (and those like me who are not so young) come from all over the world to study here. Many of them are not only exemplary scholars but highly creative individuals with great skill behind the camera. Here are some examples:
  • Yu Zhang (Lucas) is from Malaysia and is here studying physics - he's traveled all over the world and his photos of Uppsala are evocative and breathtaking
  • Chinmaya Sandagi is from New Delhi, India and is here studying cell and molecular biology - he is the rajah of Flogsta and this student-populated neighbourhood features in many of his photos

The cathedral on a foggy winter's night - note the lotus-like light installation in the lower right foreground

Cathedral against a pink sky (sunrise?)

Part of the light festival - my shot of this is nowhere near as dramatic

The Museum Gustavianum was lit up for the light festival

The concert house in Vaksala Torg

The main square with light installation surrounding the lamp in the center

View along the river

Don't know how Lucas got this effect but it's a neat picture

Trees along the river are garlanded with lights

Beautiful summertime view of Flogsta highrises

Bikes in the snow - amazing number of people still riding their bikes

Moon over the horizon seen from Flogsta

Summer rainbow captured from Flogsta

A threatening sky over Flogsta highrises

Snow on the trees and bicycles
